This week reveals a clear shift: creatives are no longer merely credited as contributors, but are being established as independent journalistic voices. At the same time, magazines are transforming their archives, partnerships, and editorial formats into products that can be monetized in the long term.

October 12, 2026
The most significant shift this week: Editorials are increasingly becoming multi-layered media experiences. A topic no longer appears solely as an article, but simultaneously as an exclusive event, social media content, a live stream, a curated product selection, and a commercially viable partnership.
FACT
Dior showcased the new direction particularly clearly. Make-up artist Peter Philips combined naturally radiant skin with silver eye accents: sometimes as a wafer-thin metallic line, sometimes as a striking glitter wing.
The look remained minimalist in the face, but gained a clear visual identity through a single surprising detail.
FACT
The previously largely internal re-sees after fashion shows are increasingly being opened up to creators, Substack authors and selected customers.
Brands like Chanel, Dior, Celine, and Bottega Veneta deliberately stage their presentations to be photogenic. Detailed shots extend the collection's life cycle and can directly trigger pre-orders and customer relationships.
11 ·Regional Runway
Fashion Days Baden are growing from a fashion show to a regional platform
FACT
The second edition of Fashion Days Baden will be significantly larger and broader in scope. On December 19, 2026, the over 800 square meter Aue sports hall will become the stage for more than ten fashion collections.
Live acts and special show moments. In addition to the fashion show, a designer showroom will be set up during the day, where visitors can get to know the labels, their creations and the people behind them directly.
08 · Editorial Authority
Marie Claire turns expertise into a format in itself
FACT
For the 2026 Beauty Awards, Marie Claire employed 101 experts – including dermatologists, make-up artists, hairstylists, trichologists, and beauty journalists. Together, they evaluated more than 3,500 product submissions.
09 ·Broadcast Expansion

The campaign includes 37 markets, a study with more than 20,000 adults, product sales to benefit the program, and a publicly expandable training program against discrimination based on appearance.
07 ·Purpose Partnership
Swiss fashion events expand their distribution to television.

FACT
REVOLVE has launched an annual print and digital magazine with three cover versions. The content combines fashion, beauty, culture, travel, and product curation with a digital edition available for direct purchase. The launch was staged as a social event during Paris Fashion Week.

Reach alone is losing its importance. Direct relationships, compelling stories, and intelligent collaborations are becoming crucial.
05 ·Cultural Partnership
Harper's Bazaar and Dior monetize cultural heritage
FACT
A joint event at Dior's 30 Montaigne boutique launched the illustrated book "Richard Avedon: The Harper's Bazaar Years." Archive, oral history, book sales, and brand experience intertwine.
03 ·Serial Storytelling
Victoria's Secret turns a casting call into a media story.
FACT

04 ·Beauty Discovery

01 ·Direct Audience
Publishers prioritize relationships over click volume
Nieman Lab · 30.09.2026 ↗
FACT
With Google's reach declining, newsletter sign-ups, repeat visits, app usage, and community activity are becoming increasingly important. At the same time, editors are being developed more as visible personalities.
